It was an incantation for a Barrier Technique.
Then something like a vast, transparent curtain appeared overhead, enclosing the hillside where Mo Bai and Mahoraga stood.
Mo Bai intended to create a curtain that would hide this place from outsiders.
Since Mo Bai could use Domain Expansion, he had long since mastered Barrier Techniques.
And that was indeed the case.
As mentioned before, Mo Bai had drawn inspiration from the Rover's Time Order domain and the Voidmatter Magnetic Storm to learn how to use Barrier Techniques.
But although he understood the principles and had used Domain Expansion several times,
this was his first time using a Barrier Technique on its own.
Put simply, a standalone Barrier Technique created a special space governed by rules set by its user.
It was much like setting the rules of a barrier during Domain Expansion.
But most Jujutsu Sorcerers were short on Cursed Energy and focus, and Domain Expansion usually happened in a crisis with little time to spare.
So the barriers they created for their domains generally had only one of two properties: stronger on the outside and weaker within, or the reverse.
Using a Barrier Technique on its own was different.
A Jujutsu Sorcerer of Mo Bai's caliber had enough time, focus, and Cursed Energy to impose rules on a barrier while creating it.
Once he had roughly worked out Mahoraga's motive this time, Mo Bai simply made it so that outsiders could neither see what happened inside the barrier nor hear any sounds from it.
