Just as Mo Bai's thoughts began to wander, the unhurried click of high-heeled boots reached his ears, accompanied by a gentle voice with the reassuring warmth of an adult.
He looked up and saw Losera approaching from Rover's side.
"Congratulations on graduating."
She smiled at Mo Bai, who had helped her time and again.
"Graduating... If someone at my level really counts as a Star Torch Academy graduate, I'm afraid I'd drag down its standards." Mo Bai looked a little embarrassed.
During his time there, he had submitted neither a research report nor a paper. He had not even turned in a single assignment.
If anyone learned that he had graduated from Star Torch Academy like this, they would surely think he had pulled strings.
Seeing Mo Bai's usual modesty, Losera felt, as an educator, that this was the one thing about him she ought to address.
Mo Bai put himself down far too often.
She was both principal and teacher. She had a responsibility to set him straight on that.
Besides, considering everything Mo Bai had done to help her, letting him graduate was the least she could do.
"If the person who defeated Aleph-1 can't graduate from our Academy,
then perhaps Star Torch Academy's graduation requirements are too demanding," Losera teased.
"Is this a training base for combat personnel or something...?" Mo Bai shot back.
If graduation really were judged by that standard, Gabriella would probably be the most qualified person to teach here.
Still, Mo Bai knew this was a small favor Losera had prepared for him.
"Thank you, Principal, and thank you to this Academy for looking after me all this time," Mo Bai said solemnly.
Given his plans for the future, he had no idea when he would return.
He
