Nate felt as though he had fallen into a bizarre, kaleidoscopic world.
There were only glittering corridors and gleaming mirrors, reflecting light, pain, hope, and beautiful dreams. Everything shifted endlessly here, turning over and over. The Left Hand of God tried to remember how he had arrived, but his thoughts were so muddled that he could not recall what had happened. All he could do was clutch his golden left hand.
The mirrors along the corridors constantly reflected Nate's image. Some of these "Nates" were normal, while others-at least, Nate thought they were abnormal-did not seem like him at all: a Nate who ate people, a Nate who committed every conceivable evil, a Nate who slaughtered household after household, and a Nate who trained tirelessly beneath a waterfall.

What terrified Nate was discovering that his connection to Cyric had been severed.
That was a horrifying thing. Cyric's vindictiveness was unparalleled, and he had always been cruel and merciless. Those who betrayed him, in particular, would suffer the most, most, most terrible punishment imaginable.
I used my master's divine power, yet failed to complete the mission. How will he punish me?
Nate no longer dared to pursue that thought.
He struggled to find a way out, unaware of how much time had passed. Perhaps a day, perhaps over
