As one of the ultimate life-forms, a Dracolich needed neither air, water, food, nor sleep.

Any adult dragon could undergo the ritual to become a Dracolich, retaining most of its draconic power while gaining the reinforced hide and powers of the undead.

Most importantly, becoming a Dracolich allowed them to transcend death. Their souls were transferred into gems that functioned much like a lich's Phylactery. As long as the Phylactery survived, a Dracolich's soul would never fade.

When Aaron and the others heard the distant roar from deep within the mountains, they knew the remnants of the Cult of the Dragon were awakening the Dracolich there.

They had to hurry! Aaron knew that if the Dracolich arrived, their little group, without a single legendary fighter among them, would struggle to face such an ultimate life-form!

"Hurry!" Aaron shouted at Charlotte. "Sis!"

"Understood!" Charlotte responded immediately. The young lady took a ring from her clothing and stored all twenty-eight treasure chests, filled with platinum, gold, and silver coins, gemstones, and precious metals, inside it one by one.

Aaron gazed at the ring in her hand with undisguised envy.

That ring was an exceptionally rare magical item passed down to Charlotte by Vangerdahast, Cormyr's previous chief archmage-a treasure Aaron could not obtain even if he wanted it!

The spatial storage items commonly sold on the market were Bags of Holding. They could hold up to sixty-four cubic feet of goods, but no more than five hundred pounds.

Bags of Holding also had many drawbacks. If their contents exceeded their capacity, or the bags were punctured or torn, they would rupture and be destroyed.

Carrying a Bag of Holding was dangerous!

Even the slightest damage would spill its contents into the Astral Plane, which was practically the same as losing them forever.
