The sixty-sixth layer of the Abyss, the Weave Pits.
Lolth, the Spider Queen, was a demon who had attained divine rank. Her boundless domain was the heart and nexus of countless vile schemes within the Abyss.
By dragging worlds of the Prime Material Plane into the Weave Pits, Lolth tirelessly sought to expand her realm, and each conquest granted the Spider Queen greater power.
Countless overlapping floors formed an endless network-the Weave Pits. Passages wrapped in sticky spiderwebs connected the interior of the web, forming tubular corridors.
Above the web tunnels, endless clouds of smoke, rotten and gray, churned like immense waves and filled the entire space. Otherwise, one would be drawn forever into the chaos of the Abyss. Far below Lolth's web, the terrifying Weave Pits lay amid numerous wellsprings of absolute darkness.
Sturdy metal doors were scattered throughout the Weave Pits. They often stood beside a passage, seemingly leading into banks of smoke.
In truth, these doors led to numerous demiplanes and worlds of the Prime Material Plane that featured in Lolth's political and military plans. Many of these worlds had already been thoroughly conquered by Lolth's servants and were filled with Dark Elves, demons, and other minions of the Queen of the Weave Pits.
This was the Spider Queen's domain. In fact, very few of the lords who ruled individual layers of the Abyss could become gods. They possessed powers similar to those of deities, but only within their own domains. Mortals had invented a special term for these demon lords: "Quasi-Deity."
Some evil-aligned deities, however, chose to settle on a particular layer of the Abyss, moving their divine realms into the most fundamentally evil domain in the Multiverse.
