The Upper City had also suffered tremendous destruction during the Skaven war. At least half its noble estates had come under attack, been caught in the blast waves, or lost their owners to Skaven ambushes. Baldur's Gate's once-stable patrician hierarchy had been shaken, and Entar Silvershield and Duke Eltan threw themselves into dealing with it immediately after the funeral.
On one hand, the two dukes had to prove they could maintain order without Takkus and ensure the continuation of the Baldurian patrician hierarchy-this was the foundation of the City Council's support for them.
On the other hand, upheaval in the hierarchy meant wealth and resources were being released from their former arrangements. Entar Silvershield's eagerness to send Aaron away naturally stemmed from his interest in the vacancies the patricians had left behind.
Lady Julia's residence was completely intact. With Buer there, neither the Skaven Clanrats' nuclear explosion nor their military ambushes had managed to reach the four-story residence. The only changes came from Aegir and Buer moving in-Big Dragon had redecorated the interior in the "blood and iron" style she favored. From furniture to walls, everything followed the same palette: solemn black, gleaming gold, and subdued brown, lending the place a majestic grandeur.
