Aaron and his companions stood in a cold, damp room with a low, vaulted ceiling. Bright silver crystals rested at the intersections of its jade arches.
They stood in the brightest, clearest part of the room. Four archways surrounded the mirrored hall, opening onto the winding corridors of the Silver Palace. Aaron looked through each in turn and discovered that they all led to other vaulted rooms.
Near the middle of each arched passage, to the left, was another narrow, winding path. Beyond that, treasures filled every inch of their view: coins, gold bars, and gold bricks from countless worlds piled into an ocean, with numerous ivory chests among them, filled with lustrous, translucent pearls and colorful gemstones.
A long row of chests stood against the wall. Morgan immediately recognized them as treasures from the world of Oerth, decorated with intricately carved jade. A row of banner poles stood beside them, bearing war banners Six-Fingers had captured in his victories during the wars of the Abyss. There were banners from Abyssal Lords, Archdevils, and even other worlds.
Six-Fingers' favorite was the banner of the Crusader Army that served Pelor, god of light. He had carefully framed it as a symbol of his great victory. His second favorite was the banner of the Daemon Prince Demogorgon.
