Opposing the First Goddess of Magic should have been impossible.
After all, the First Goddess of Magic, Mystryl, was different from the Second Goddess of Magic, Mystra, and the Third Goddess of Magic, Midnight. After Mystryl fell while saving the world, she hastily reincarnated as a fisherman's daughter in Netheril who possessed sufficient magical talent, becoming the Second Goddess of Magic. In that process, Mystryl lost many of her abilities and divine portfolios.
Before that, Mystryl had been the only deity who could claim, "Ao and I are evenly matched."
