It began when the Sun Lord, Delleghart, the fire elemental lord of the Rising Sun Heresy, finally declared at a public gathering, before everyone in Lathander's church, that the Morninglord was not the true Sun God.
This act by the Rising Sun Heresy immediately enraged all of Lathander's faithful.
But then Delleghart performed a divine miracle that left the Morninglord's clerics breathless.
At his prayer, the sun rose and set in answer to the Rising Sun Heresy's call, as easily as if it belonged to him.
This act profoundly shook the faith of Lathander's followers. Even the deity himself had to appear to explain matters. Lathander manifested amid the blazing radiance of the morning sun, and just as the Morninglord was about to calmly tell those assembled that this was merely a minor accident, the inevitable unexpected happened.
The sun rose again. The true Ancient Sun God, Amaunator, burst out of Lathander's body. Lathander's handsome, sunny face split in two, replaced by the returning god of dazzling golden light-Amaunator, god of bureaucracy and machinery!
