Ch. 696The final battle against Shar (Part one)

Aaron and Aegir fought Shar’s summoned creatures in the Temple of Time while Aaron tried to summon Selûne and Eilistraee. After Aegir helped expose Shar’s deception and survived her attack through an illusion, Aaron summoned powerful allies for the final battle.

  • Shar used Charlotte’s blood to summon a Shadow Dragon, but Aaron bound and destroyed it before confronting Shar about her wish to return Realmspace to darkness.
  • Shar broke apart Jörmungandr and offered Aaron a chance to defeat her and end the thirty-thousand-year War in Heaven.
  • Aaron summoned Aegir to hold off Shar’s forces while he reached into the River of Time to summon Selûne and Eilistraee.
  • Aegir fought multiplying Water Elemental Lords, and Aaron used his Phantom and Reincarnation portfolios to trap and destroy them in an illusion.
  • Aaron and Aegir outmaneuvered Shar’s illusions, but Shar’s Darknight Disk cut through Aegir’s apparent body before she revealed the attack had struck an illusion and returned to her Divine Realm.
  • Shar’s Darknight Disk was deflected by the Elden Beast of Cosmic Starlight as Aaron advanced with a golden giant and two goddesses for the final battle.

Ch. 697The showdown with Shar (Part two)

Aaron, Selûne, and Eilistraee confronted Shar in the Temple of Time, where Shar revealed three powerful aspects that countered their attacks. As the trio faced defeat, Selûne urged them to retreat, and Aaron vanished with the goddesses in a burst of white fire while Shar vowed they could not escape.

  • Aaron summoned Selûne and Eilistraee to help him fight Shar in the Temple of Time.

  • The Dark Dancer and Shar’s true form injured Aaron, while Shar used a Tarrasque to shield herself from Aaron’s Gungnir Spear.
  • With their power dwindling and Shar’s three aspects closing in, Selûne told Aaron to retreat, and Aaron disappeared with Selûne and Eilistraee.
  • Shar declared that Aaron and the goddesses could not escape and that the War in Heaven would end in the Temple of Time.

Ch. 698The final battle against Shar (part two)

Aaron, Selûne, and Eilistraee used Eilistraee’s song to disrupt the Temple of Time and trap Shar’s three aspects, but another Shar emerged and devastated them. Shar claimed victory after revealing she had fought them as two versions of herself, while Aaron hinted that she had overlooked a danger as Mystryl’s statues began to glow.

  • Aaron, Selûne, and Eilistraee fled Shar’s three aspects and devised a plan to separate and defeat them using Eilistraee’s Deciphering Mystery.
  • Eilistraee sang to disrupt the laws of the Temple of Time as Aaron and Selûne lured Shar’s aspects into a coordinated attack.
  • Aaron summoned Drach'nyen to block Shar’s true self from calling Shadowfell creatures, while Selûne pursued the Dark Dancer and the Night Singer struggled against Aaron’s alchemy.
  • Eilistraee completed her song, allowing the Six Saints to imprison Shar’s three aspects in Karsus’s Magic Box.
  • A fourth Shar appeared, shattered the seal, wounded Aaron, Selûne, and Eilistraee, and revealed she was the Shar of the Netherese Era fighting alongside the current-timeline Shar.
  • Shar seized Drach'nyen and declared victory, but Aaron told her to watch her back as every statue of Mystryl in the Temple of Time began to shine.

Ch. 699Capture Shar Alive!

Aaron and his allies defeated Shar after Amaunator awakened in the Temple of Time and joined their fight. They took the bound Goddess of Night to Aaron’s Divine Realm so he could persuade her, while Selûne declared that Shar would become Aaron’s Goddess-Queen alongside her.

  • Shar realized Aaron could reach the Netherese-era Amaunator through the River of Time, and the rising sun weakened her while a barrier kept her from reaching Aaron.
  • Aaron revealed that the Temple of Time’s statues of Mystryl were actually images of Amaunator, whose consciousness awakened from the divine energy released in the battle.
  • Amaunator healed Aaron, Selûne, and Eilistraee, and the four gods surrounded Shar and urged her to surrender.
  • Shar refused and unleashed her fury across the Material Plane, disrupting the Shadow Weave, plunging the world into darkness, and causing a lunar eclipse.
  • Aaron, Amaunator, Selûne, and Eilistraee defeated Shar after an hour and bound her in a golden statue.
  • Aaron ordered Shar taken to his Divine Realm, while Selûne celebrated her victory and insisted Shar would become Aaron’s Goddess-Queen too.

Ch. 701The First Goddess of Magic

Aaron and the other gods encountered Mystryl in the past after defeating and capturing Shar. Mystryl accepted her coming fall, gave Amaunator the portfolio of Time, and said goodbye as Aaron and the others returned to the future.

  • Selûne had Aaron gag the defeated Shar while Amaunator questioned whether the Netherese Empire’s end could be avoided.
  • Mystryl appeared, recognized that Selûne and the others had come from the future, and learned that Eilistraee had chosen a new path.
  • Selûne began warning Mystryl about the Netherese civilization, but Mystryl said Selûne needed to change her own future instead.
  • Mystryl offered Amaunator the portfolio of Time on the condition that he fulfill its duties properly.

  • Mystryl reaffirmed her teachings about magic and accepted that following them might lead to her fall.

Ch. 702Goddess of Night

The Rising Sun Incident brought Amaunator back as a greater deity while Shar vanished from Realmspace, and Selûne took Shar’s seat on the High God Council. In Aaron’s Divine Realm, Shar tried to escape his control but discovered he had sealed away much of her knowledge and power, leaving her trapped in his grasp.

  • Delleghart publicly challenged Lathander’s claim to the sun, and Amaunator emerged from Lathander to reclaim his place among the greater deities.
  • Shar disappeared, the Shadow Weave failed, and Selûne returned as a greater deity and joined the High God Council.
  • Aaron kept Shar in his Divine Realm, where repeated card games strengthened his Stigma and eroded her divine power and mental defenses.
  • Shar asked Aaron whether he intended to keep her imprisoned, and Aaron described how she would have treated him, Selûne, and Eilistraee if she had won.
  • Shar secretly seized Yasha and attempted to escape, but she could neither cast powerful spells nor remember how to wield the sword.
  • Aaron explained that he had sealed away much of Shar’s knowledge and power, then carried her off to continue their card games as she pleaded with him to stop.

Ch. 703Persuading Shar

Aaron used his power of oblivion and a demonstration of creation to break down Shar’s pride, then offered to make her one of his Goddess-Queens and create a world with her. Shar reluctantly accepted his offer and agreed to make peace with Selûne.

  • Aaron confronted Shar as her memories, spells, combat skills, and divine connections continued to fade.
  • Aaron showed Shar a simulation of the power of creation, convincing her that he could create a world and replace her.
  • Aaron offered Shar a place as his Goddess-Queen and promised to create a world called Dark Souls according to her wishes.
  • Shar accused Aaron of wanting both her and Selûne, then resisted his advances before gradually calming down.
  • Aaron asked Shar to make peace with Selûne, and Shar reluctantly nodded and agreed.

Ch. 704A new journey! (Grand finale)

Shar agreed to become one of Aaron’s Goddess-Queens, while the war between Chaos and Hell culminated in Asmodeus’s apotheosis and Aaron’s ascension as the fifth Chaos God. Half a year later, Aaron returned to Cormyr, where his companions welcomed him and he declared that his story was just beginning.

  • Shar accepted Aaron’s terms and joined Selûne as one of his Goddess-Queens, completing the Heaven Pantheon.
  • Archaon’s campaign devastated Hell before Asmodeus consumed the essence of slain daemons and ascended as the god of Hell.
  • Lolth escaped Slaanesh’s fortress but was killed by the Emperor, who took her body as a trophy.
  • Aaron met Archaon in the Court of the Covenant, then used the Chaos thrones to ascend as a greater deity and the fifth Chaos God.
