Kakashi charged out with grim resolve, Chidori in hand, and struck at the enemy.

Obito's Sharingan also caught something else.

Kakashi had completed the technique, but in a fight this fast, he couldn't make out the enemy's movements.

Without a word, Obito controlled his Shuriken to help Kakashi cut them down.

The two could barely stand each other, yet now they fought with astonishing coordination.

Unlike in the original story, Obito had awakened his Sharingan early with Kazan's help.

Both of them were stronger now than they had been in the anime.

Before long, they fought their way into the enemy stronghold and found Rin Nohara bound inside.

But an elite Rock Shinobi Jonin, Kakkō, stood before her.

Kakashi and Obito exchanged a glance without a word, then joined forces to take him down.

"Release!"

Obito went straight to Rin Nohara and broke the Genjutsu on her.

"Kakashi...?"

Rin Nohara opened her eyes and saw Kakashi, then Obito.

"You two..."

"Don't talk. We're not safe yet. Move!"

Kakashi untied her and led them out of the stronghold, intent on escaping as fast as possible.

By the time they emerged with Rin Nohara, Rock Shinobi had surrounded the place.

They were deep behind Rock Shinobi lines. There was no way the commotion they had caused could have escaped notice.

The three looked up with difficulty. Enemies filled their vision.

"Damn it!"

Kakashi drew the Heirloom Short Blade from his back and stood in front of the other two.

"I'll hold them off. Find a chance to get out of here."

As for the mission...
