Background / History

The Uchiha helped found Konoha alongside the Senju. Madara Uchiha later left the village, and the rift between the clan and Konoha persisted for decades 115 269. Before the Nine-Tails’ rampage, the Uchiha compound remained in central Konoha, but villagers already disliked the clan’s Military Police officers 8 12.

Police work kept many Uchiha away from the battlefield and reduced the clan’s wartime losses. It also drew resentment from other shinobi and deepened the clan’s isolation 115 123. Within the clan, some favored repairing relations with the village, while others wanted a harder response to its distrust 116.

Kazan’s treatment of wounded Uchiha during the Third Shinobi World War changed their relationship with him. He brought Uchiha and other Konoha ninja into one treatment line, prompting conversations between people who had kept their distance 115. Fugaku subsequently resolved to support Kazan as a future Hokage and organized the clan to reconstruct Lightning Release Chakra Mode for him 115 120.

Sharingan

The Sharingan is the Uchiha’s inherited dōjutsu and one of the shinobi world’s three great dōjutsu 10.

• Hyuga clan — Long-standing rival for status in Konoha. A fight between their students escalates into a clan dispute, which Kazan settles by ordering the ringleaders punished under village rules 208 215 216.
