Kaecilius made a high-profile return, causing quite a stir in Kamar-Taj.
However, Raine had no interest in this whatsoever and did not even show his face.
He was, after all, a transmigrator.
He knew better than anyone what kind of piece of trash Kaecilius was.
This was the notoriously infamous turncoat and traitor of the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
Not only would he lead a bunch of lackies to defect to the Dark Dimension demon god Dormammu in the future, but he would also slaughter the fat librarian and even directly flip tables on The Ancient One.
Getting involved with a guy wearing such a mega-villain halo was definitely big trouble.
What if The Ancient One settled accounts with the traitors later on, and he went down with them?
Therefore.
Raine made up his mind to hunker down in his room and crazily grind his proficiency, never going to join in on the excitement.
Just as Raine was lying on his bed, happily watching the soaring data on his system panel.
Knock, knock, knock!
A rude round of knocking sounded.
Raine frowned, turned over, got out of bed, and went to open the door.
The moment the door opened.
Standing outside was a completely unfamiliar brown-robed sorcerer.
He wasn't old, but his nostrils were practically pointed up at the sky.
"May I ask who you are?"
Raine's tone was flat.
His interpersonal relationships in Kamar-Taj were very simple; aside from the mentors who had delivered themselves to his doorstep, he basically only knew his fellow disciples from the same cohort.
Where on earth did this character pop up from?
"You can call me Sorcerer Devin."
The brown-robed sorcerer slightly lifted his chin, speaking in a charitable tone:
"I am a follower of Master Kaecilius."
"The Master has heard of your name and intends to give you a chance. Come with me, he wants to see you."
Raine looked this guy up and down as if he were looking at an idiot.
Had this person forgotten to take his medicine before going out?
Even Kaecilius himself had to be mindful of appearances back in Kamar-Taj.
Where did a puny nobody like him get the confidence to put on airs in front of someone else's dorm door?
"Sorry, no time."
Raine couldn't even be bothered to say a punctuation mark.
Bang!
He slammed the door shut right in Devin's face.
"Damn bastard! Who do you think you are!"
Enraged and desperate, Devin's furious scolding immediately came from outside the door.
"How dare you refuse Master Kaecilius's summons! You're dead!"
Listening to the barking of impotent fury from outside the door, Raine didn't take it to heart at all.
The rules of Kamar-Taj were harder than iron.
Private sorcerer meditation quarters belonged to the absolute realm of privacy; forcing entry without permission would get one directly taken down by the enforcement team.
No matter how crazy Devin was, even if you gave him ten times the guts, he wouldn't dare break the door down.
Sure enough.
After cursing a few times and seeing that Raine didn't react, Devin could only flick his sleeve and leave in a huff.
"Silly bird."
Raine curled his lips and turned around, preparing to continue grinding his skills.
As a result, his backside hadn't even touched the bed yet.
Knock, knock, knock!
The knocking sounded again.
"You're still not done, are you? Do you really think I have a good temper?"
Raine's expression sank. If this weren't on The Ancient One's turf, he would have already conjured a Chaos Orb to teach the other person how to behave.
Pulling the door open, Raine was just about to spit out his native curses.
The words stuck hard in his throat.
Standing outside was actually Kaecilius himself!
"Greetings, Master Kaecilius."
Raine quickly adjusted his expression.
You don't hit a smiling person; the man was, after all, a powerful Master with real authority, so the superficial courtesy still had to be performed.
"No need for formalities. I'm here to apologize."
To Raine's surprise.
The supposedly arrogant Kaecilius in the rumors actually lowered his head of his own accord.
"This kid Devin is a new-generation sorcerer of Kamar-Taj, spoiled since childhood, so his personality is inevitably somewhat overbearing. There was a lot of offense earlier; I'm making amends to you on his behalf."
The corner of Raine's eye twitched slightly.
Was this the arrogant villain leader?
Able to bend and stretch, he had the potential of an overlord!
Yet Raine also reacted quickly—no wonder that Devin had been pointing his nostrils at the sky earlier.
In Kamar-Taj, there indeed existed a small batch of sorcerer descendants.
These people possessed innate magical talent, just like the pure-blood families in the Harry Potter world, naturally carrying a sense of baffled superiority.
"Master, you exaggerate."
Raine replied politely.
Kaecilius didn't continue with the pleasantries either, cutting straight to the point to state his purpose.
"I heard you are extraordinarily talented, a once-in-a-century good seedling for Kamar-Taj?"
"Just wild rumors outside, not worth believing." Raine played Tai Chi.
"Sorcerers never spread rumors out of thin air."
Kaecilius gave Raine a deep look, his tone carrying an unrefusable strength.
"Come with me, and let me see with my own eyes just how much true skill this nova, who is so highly praised by Wong, actually has."
With that, he didn't even wait for Raine to agree, turning around and walking away directly.
His posture was strong to the extreme.
Raine sighed helplessly, having no choice but to close his door and follow.
Since a big fish had delivered itself to his doorstep, he couldn't very well push the XP pack away.
The moment Raine and Kaecilius left the corridor.
Ripples hard to the naked eye swept across the air.
The figures of Wong and Hamir slowly emerged within the Mirror Dimension, silently watching the backs of the two as they left.
"Wong, just letting Kaecilius take him away like this, won't something go wrong?" Hamir asked with some worry.
"What is there to fear, this is Kamar-Taj." Wong snorted coldly, full of confidence.
"That's true." Hamir stroked his beard. "With The Ancient One here, Kaecilius wouldn't dare act recklessly."
"Still, Raine's luck is really quite good, being able to get personal guidance from Kaecilius."
Yet Wong unexpectedly revealed a wicked smile of a successful plot.
"This isn't luck."
"This is an open conspiracy."
Wong sneered as he analyzed: "Though Kaecilius has strong strength, arrogance is his greatest weakness."
"The more I express my high praise for Raine and even conceal Raine's true progress in front of him, the more unconvinced he will feel."
"He desperately wants to step on me in every field, including teaching students!"
"Therefore, not only will he come to find Raine in person, but he will also definitely pull out his ultimate trump card to show off!"
After hearing this, Hamir stared dumbfounded at the fat fellow beside him who usually looked so honest and simple-minded.
"Wong... you have way too many schemes, don't you?"
"You actually plotted against Kaecilius to a tee?"
Hamir couldn't help shivering.
The hearts of these battle sorcerers who had fought on the front lines year-round were truly dirtier than one another!
He'd better honestly stick to scholarship in the future.
Never provoke these outwardly simple-minded tactical old schemers!
