Kaecilius stood with his hands behind his back, staring indifferently at Raine.
He had initially thought that this rumored genius, whom Wong and Hamir had praised to the heavens, would at least bring him a little amusement.
But now it seemed...
He had overestimated him.
He had practically taken apart the mysteries of the Spatial Law and fed them right to the boy's mouth, yet the boy still showed no reaction.
This so-called genius...
Was nothing special.
Kaecilius let out a disappointed sigh.
Then again, even his most capable senior Sorcerer followers had studied this Spell for several years without grasping its essence.
Expecting a newly initiated apprentice to understand it after hearing it just once really was asking too much of him.
There were simply too many mediocre talents in Kamar-Taj.
Being a lonely Master with no one capable of appreciating his heights was truly dull.
Kaecilius shook his head, thoroughly bored.
He was just about to wave Raine away.
However.
The instant his gaze fell on Raine again.
Kaecilius's pupils suddenly contracted, and his entire body jolted as if struck by lightning!
Raine smiled and raised his right hand, then lightly brushed it through the air.
The air shattered instantly!
A long, completely transparent shard with a cold, flickering edge was steadily drawn out of the void by Raine.
Space Blade!
What the hell...
How was that possible?!
Kaecilius stared so hard that he practically wanted to gouge out his own eyes and stick them onto the transparent blade for a closer look.
No matter how he looked at it.
That flawless energy structure and that razor-sharp sensation as it tore through the air...
They all proved that this was absolutely a genuine Space Blade!
"Good grief..."
Kaecilius abruptly turned around, putting his back to Raine.
He was afraid the apprentice might see his extremely twisted, even somewhat frightened expression.
This made no sense!
The Space Blade was no basic Spell like tossing a fireball.
It was the highest-level materialized application of the Spatial Law!
What kind of terrifying mental control was required to compress the violent, intangible power of space into a sharp blade?
Even the slightest distraction would cause the berserk spatial power to rebound instantly, twisting the Spellcaster's arm into minced meat!
Even his most trusted subordinate, whom he had trained for so many years and instructed every single day, had yet to touch even the edge of a Spatial Fragment.
But this kid...
Had he even listened to the theory for ten minutes?
And he had actually created it?!
Kaecilius felt the pride he had built up over so many years being ruthlessly trampled by an invisible foot.
How could a monster like this exist in the world?
Even when The Ancient One had demonstrated the Eye of Agamotto back then, he had never questioned his entire life as intensely as he did now!
Kaecilius took several deep breaths.
He struggled to calm his turbulent emotions before turning around again.
However.
The next second.
The expression on his face completely lost control.
The corner of his eye twitched as though he were doing a breakdance.
Raine was holding the Space Blade, which even a Master had to handle with extreme caution.
Yet he was making it flip and dance back and forth around his fingertips!
It was like a transparent butterfly fluttering gracefully through the air.
This kid was actually treating the Space Blade like a butterfly knife?!
"You..."
Kaecilius forcibly swallowed the curses he wanted to shout, the muscles on his face turning somewhat ferocious from the effort of restraining himself.
Such smooth, effortless micro-control...
Even he, the creator of this Spell, had only managed to reach this level after two years of painstaking practice day and night!
The blade had to be constantly wrapped and controlled by mental power. Otherwise, the moment he lost control, the first thing it would shred would be the Spellcaster's own palm.
Yet Raine had not only done it, he even looked more proficient than Kaecilius himself!
This was practically rubbing his intelligence and talent into the ground over and over!
Kaecilius felt dizzy.
He even wondered whether Dormammu had secretly cast some kind of illusion on him.
This wasn't a genius at all.
This was a cheating monster!
But in front of an apprentice, a Master had to hold on to his dignity at all costs.
Kaecilius forcibly pulled out a stiff smile that looked worse than crying.
"Hmm... not bad, I suppose. Your control is barely up to standard."
Upon hearing this assessment, Raine immediately stopped moving and withdrew the Space Blade into the void.
"Thank you for clearing up my confusion, Master Kaecilius."
Raine bowed, his tone utterly sincere.
He was genuinely grateful to this future villain.
Not only had Kaecilius given him a top-tier killing technique for free.
The "War Frenzy Aura" he carried had also forcibly raised the proficiency of all attack Magic by a considerable amount.
In just this short while, the progress bars for Magic Shield and Hand-to-Hand Combat had surged again.
If only this man wouldn't become Dormammu's lackey in the future and would stay in Kamar-Taj as a dedicated sparring partner.
That would have been wonderful.
What a pity.
Looking at Raine's sincere gaze.
Kaecilius felt even more miserable.
He even felt that Raine's clear eyes were filled with mockery of his own talent.
"You're quite good."
Kaecilius worked hard to maintain a Master's composure and earnestly admonished him:
"Having this kind of talent is a good thing, but you must never become arrogant or complacent."
"Fundamentals will always be the most important. Go back and practice your basic Magic more. You mustn't reach for things beyond your grasp."
"Yes, Master. Your lesson is well taken." Raine nodded respectfully.
"Go on."
Kaecilius waved his hand. "If there's anything you don't understand in the future, feel free to come find me. When it comes to understanding combat Spells, I am far more insightful than Wong."
"This student takes his leave."
Raine bowed once more before turning and leaving the meditation room.
On the way back to the dormitory.
Raine was in an excellent mood, humming a little tune.
Kaecilius really was a good man.
He had given him both a skill and a buff, and even the smile he wore before Raine left had been so kindly.
It seemed that villains were full of human warmth before they turned evil!
