Ye An had only taken a few steps when Lu Xingzhou and Shen Qing appeared beside him.

Lu Xingzhou waggled his eyebrows and deliberately lowered his voice. "Brother Ye, that was the Liu Lineage's carriage, wasn't it? I saw Liu Ruyan get out with you."

Shen Qing stood nearby. The corner of her mouth twitched slightly. She said nothing, but her eyes said it all.

"Who's Liu Ruyan? The Liu Lineage's eldest daughter, a famous beauty throughout Cangwu Prefecture. And you got her to bring you back herself?"

Ye An's face remained blank. "I'm a Liu Family Guest Elder. They put my name down when I was at Meridian Opening. A guest elder does a job for the family, and the family gives him a ride. What's the problem?"

"Guest elder? Brother Ye, no one around here knows what we're talking about. Just tell me. I swear I won't tell anyone. What exactly is going on between you two..." He turned to look at Shen Qing again as he spoke and found her still standing where they had left her.

"The family and its guest elder," Ye An said, his tone unchanged. "Ask again, and I won't explain the Meridian Opening acupoints next time."

Lu Xingzhou shut his mouth at once and mimed sealing it.

Shen Qing came over. The two men had even avoided her while talking. She had noticed, so once they were done, she kicked Lu Xingzhou in the leg. "All right, Senior Brother Ye. Little Lu doesn't know any better. I'll straighten him out later."
