At the thought, the Mist Ninja leaders' eyes flickered, and excitement crept across their faces.

"Ao! Well said! Lord Genji, I have to disagree with you. So what if Lady Mei Terumi is young? She's incredibly strong!"

"We old-timers can help her for a few years. Ao is right. I support Mei Terumi becoming the Fifth Mizukage!" One Mist Ninja leader slammed his hand on the table and stood.

"Right! I agree with Ao too. Lord Genji, you know better than any of us what state the village is in!"

"Lady Mei Terumi is one of Kirigakure's greatest talents. Please stop refusing and let her become our Fifth Mizukage!"

One Mist Ninja leader after another spoke up. First, they solemnly criticized Genji, then they backed Mei Terumi for Fifth Mizukage.

Genji was dumbfounded. But as an old fox, he quickly worked out what they were after.

Could he refuse, though? Of course not. She was his own granddaughter!

Everyone wanted their children to soar to great heights, and Genji was no exception.

What could make him happier than seeing Mei Terumi become the Fifth Mizukage?

"Very well! Since you all agree, we'll appoint Mei Terumi as soon as she returns!"

And just like that, a thoroughly bewildered Mei Terumi became the youngest Fifth Mizukage in Kirigakure's history.

By the time Mei Terumi reached the front courtyard to find Genji, the Mist Ninja leaders had already left.

The Ninja still there looked at her with respect.
