Sacrifice (Three-in-One)

The water was colder than expected.

Qing Liu led the way, with Shen Yin behind her. They followed the current down, each using Magic Power to form a thin membrane around her body that kept the icy water at bay.

A Magical Girl who couldn't swim? That would be a joke.

Even the most hopeless trainee Magical Girl could at least use Magic Power to form a water-repelling membrane.

Propelling herself underwater with Magic Power might be another matter.

But Qing Liu was Lamp-Lighting Rank, and Shen Yin was Firefly Rank. Neither had that problem. Moving like this had become as instinctive to them as flying.

The deeper they went, the murkier the water grew, and the dimmer the light became.

The presence of Fallen Beasts grew stronger too.

It was oppressive.

Shen Yin felt a constant tightness in her chest.

"Just ahead."

After they had swum together for some time, Qing Liu's voice reached Shen Yin's mind directly through Magic Power.

That was Shen Yin's Mental Link at work.

"When the fighting starts, just keep yourself safe. And don't let your support on me drop."

Qing Liu was confident in her ability to fight underwater.

Shen Yin, however, was a support Magical Girl. Her support abilities were powerful, but she was of little use in a direct fight. Her training had always focused on evading enemies without interrupting her support.

If even a support Magical Girl had to join the fight, things had become truly dire.

Shen Yin instinctively wanted to argue that she could fight too, but in the end, she only nodded.

She couldn't act on impulse. Qing Liu would have enough to worry about without having to watch over her too.
