A reconnaissance unit.
They called it a reconnaissance unit, but compared with the usual deployments, it was heavily armed.
"So, Commander, what's our plan?"
The sky was already paling, and the outline of the Northern Capital had appeared before them.
In the dense woods, dozens of infantry fighting vehicles and tanks stood ready, their guns aimed toward the Northern Capital. A quiet sense of menace hung over them.
The soldiers had tied red scarves around themselves as they prepared to move out. Reconnaissance against Fallen Beasts would be several times harder than usual. Fallen Beasts could be killed almost only with heavy firepower, and once the soldiers opened fire, they would draw an attack.
Thousand Blades had proposed entering the city ahead of them.
She was a smaller target, could fly at subsonic speed, and dealt more damage to Fallen Beasts. If anything went wrong, she could escape easily.
But her proposal had been rejected, just as she expected.
Thousand Blades could not understand their insistence. To her, it was a pointless sacrifice.
But the soldiers knew that the world had been lost on their watch. Even if they could not take it back themselves, they had to do what they could.
Thousand Blades could not change their minds, so she agreed.
Anyway... if I keep an eye on them, nothing should go wrong.
"Our first objective is to use the intelligence we have to pinpoint every high-value target... production lines, warehouses... and, of course, high-threat targets."
"We're not a Northern Capital unit, so we don't know exactly where those places are. We need to mark them and draw up a preliminary battle plan. That'll make the main force's attack easier."
Many places in the Northern Capital were vital. Even when the main force arrived, it could not fire indiscriminately.
