The three of them were armed: one had an axe, another a hunting rifle, and the last a kitchen knife.

The other two had no time to react before their throats were slit as well.
Kaku took a handkerchief from his pocket and gently wiped the blood from the small scraper in his other hand. Then he slipped the blade back into the tool bag he carried.
