After landing, she came up to Lin Mo, blinking excitedly. "Lin Mo, you're here!"
Lin Mo frowned. "You know me too?"
The girl grinned. "Of course! Everyone at the inn knows you."
Puzzled, Lin Mo asked, "I've never met any of you. How do you know me?"
The girl sat beside Lin Mo and propped her chin in both hands, smiling. "The Shopkeeper talks about you all the time. After a while, we just got to know you."
"I don't think we've ever met," Lin Mo continued. "If you've only heard about me, how did you recognize me at a glance?"
"That's because you and—"
Before the girl could finish, another gentle female voice cut her off. "Hong Ling, have you finished your work? If the construction outside still isn't finished when the Shopkeeper comes out of seclusion, just see how he punishes you."
Then a delicate-looking young woman in a pale yellow floral dress came downstairs.
The girl named Hong Ling pouted unhappily. "Come on, the Shopkeeper won't be coming out anytime soon. Sister Xue, stop rushing me. Just let me play for a few more days."
"If you finish early, won't you be able to enjoy yourself without worrying? All right, off you go." The young woman approached Hong Ling and lightly tapped her on the head.
Hong Ling stood up reluctantly, looking thoroughly unhappy. "Hmph! All you do is pick on a little kid like me. When the Shopkeeper comes back, I'm telling on you."
The young woman smiled. "Who at the inn would dare cross you? I certainly wouldn't dare pick on you. Now go get to work. Once you're finished, I'll suggest that the Shopkeeper send you on an outside assignment next time."
Only then did Hong Ling brighten up. "That's more like it! I'll
