The Golden Bell's ringing had probably spurred them on, making them even more desperate to reclaim Upper Yard.

In any case, the war between Shandia and the Skypieans had lasted over four hundred years. One more clash would hardly make a difference.

Lin Mo gave it no more thought. With a leap, he entered the forest of towering trees around him and began another day of hunting.

Three years later.

Lin Mo was thirteen.

After his usual spell of "playing" with the beasts of Upper Yard, Lin Mo put on a pair of skates powered by Small Wind Dials. He sped across the Cloud Sea toward nearby Angel Island.

A Wind Dial, as its name suggested, was a Dial that could store wind and release it later.

Sky Island had all sorts of other Dials, each with a different use.

There were Image Dials that recorded and played images, Water Dials that stored water, Lamp Dials that produced light, Tone Dials that recorded and played sound for communication or entertainment, Flame Dials that stored fire, and many more.

These Dials were indispensable to everyday life for the Skypieans.

Skating on Sky Island was much like roller-skating, except that on the Cloud Sea, one had to follow the currents or risk wiping out. It had taken Lin Mo several days to master the skates.

Of course, the skates could be used for travel on solid ground too.

Lin Mo soon reached Angel Island.

It was a vast cloud island with beautiful scenery. Two enormous vines rose into the clouds along one side, while buildings stood among greenery nurtured by Island Cloud.

He stopped at the shore of Angel Island.

Lin Mo changed into his regular shoes and stepped onto the island's soft cloud beach.

Above Angel Island were several more stretches
