Background / History
Dragon encounters Rono and Gol D. Roger as a young Marine guarding a Heavenly Tribute transport. He declares that he will use justice to end injustice and intends to change the Marines from within. Rono invites him to seek him out if he ever loses faith in the institution, but Dragon refuses to join pirates. Dragon attacks Rono and is knocked unconscious by Conqueror’s Haki 7 8.
After the Marines investigate Rono’s parents’ murder, Dragon says he would have acted as Rono did. He becomes troubled by the World Government’s influence over the Marines and resolves to become Fleet Admiral so they can serve what he calls “true justice.” His father, Garp, supports his ambition. Dragon is later included among the promising recruits assigned further training under Sengoku and Zephyr 10 11 23.
Personality
Dragon is earnest and outspoken about justice, even when his views alarm other Marines. His encounter with Rono does not shake his commitment to the Marines, but learning why Rono attacked the Heavenly Tribute makes him question the government’s account of the incident 8 10 11.
