Ch. 1Vengeance for the Annihilation, Slaughter All the Celestial Dragons
Plot points and events
- In 1483, one year before the God Valley Incident, seventeen-year-old Rono watches Celestial Dragons kill his adoptive parents. His mother is shot at random; his father is killed by the Celestial Dragons’ guards and Marines after trying to retaliate.
- Neighbors stop Rono from attacking the killers, who leave without facing consequences. Rono grieves and swears to avenge his parents by destroying the Celestial Dragons.
- His intense rage awakens intermediate Conqueror’s Haki and activates the God-Tier Pickup System, which can collect abilities and attributes—including Haki, combat skills, physical traits, and Devil Fruit powers.
- Rono checks his status and finds that, apart from his newly awakened Haki and above-average stamina, he is essentially an ordinary person.
- The next day, he tests the system in a crowded village and collects small amounts of strength, speed, and stamina from passersby. After a full day of gathering, he returns home to assess his improved attributes.
Character development
- Rono shifts from a grieving, powerless youth to a determined future avenger. His hatred of the Celestial Dragons is rooted not only in his prior knowledge of their cruelty but in the personal loss he has suffered.
- The system gives him a practical path toward his goal, replacing some of his helplessness with confidence and resolve. His Conqueror’s Haki also changes his presence, giving him an air of authority.
- The neighbor acts compassionately, restraining Rono to keep him from being killed in a futile attack.
