Background / History

The Westwind Lion King ruled the Lianhai Mountains and lived in an underground cave built around a massive pale Spirit Stone. His reputation alone was enough to frighten hunters and Mutant Beasts away. Although humanity believed it could eventually defeat him, an all-out battle could cost Zanghai City most of its population 15 21.

He had fought Dong Shizhang many times when Dong was still a human major general stationed in Zanghai City. When Dong later joined the Beast God Cult, the Lion King mocked his betrayal but retained a familiar rivalry with him 21.

During Dong’s search for the “dragon” seen in the mountains, the Lion King revealed that he had advanced from the Myriad Stars Realm to the Bright Moon Realm. He recalled sensing Ye Chen’s spiritual energy but assumed the supposed dragon was only a flood dragon because its apparent cultivation was far too low 21 22. He also hinted that an unnamed ally was preparing for a larger plan that might need to be accelerated 22.

The Lion King’s roar during the confrontation with Dong caused widespread destruction in Zanghai City. More than 1,400 people were killed or injured, while others suffered accidents or psychological harm 22 31. After realizing the scale of the disaster, he killed Dong, returned with Ye Chen, and asked the Human Race to spare him 29 31.

Ye Chen proposed that the Lion King guard Zanghai City for one thousand years as restitution. The Lion King accepted, provided that the city supplied his meals while he obtained the ingredients himself 31. He later moved into the Lan Family estate, bringing his Wind-Type Spirit Stone with him 32.

Appearance

In beast form, the Westwind Lion King is an enormous, majestic lion. In his Bright Moon Realm humanoid form, he stands roughly three meters tall and has a lion’s mane, glowing red eyes, and armor-like plates over his shoulders 21 29.

He is also food-focused and domestic in unexpected ways. After reaching the Bright Moon Realm and gaining a half-human form, he found raw food increasingly unpleasant, learned to cook, and repeatedly asked others to bring him something tasty 22. His agreement to guard Zanghai City is motivated partly by the chance to eat freely in human territory 31.

Although self-interested and easily frightened by stronger opponents, he is not malicious toward humans by nature. He accepts responsibility for the damage caused by his roar, warns the Lan Family about the Yan Family’s attack, and takes his promise to guard Zanghai City seriously 31 44 49.

The Zanghai City Crisis

After his roar devastates Zanghai City, the Lion King kills Dong Shizhang and returns with Ye Chen. Rather than flee, he admits responsibility and accepts a thousand-year guardianship contract proposed by Ye Chen 29 31.

Residence with the Lan Family

The Lion King brings his Wind-Type Spirit Stone to Zanghai City and settles with the Lan Family. He enjoys the palace being built for him, receives meals, and helps Lan Batian improve his cultivation and wind control 32 34.
