"Skip."
Skiploom obediently picked up the backpack that had been left out to dry and followed him.
Dian was even less worried now. If they had failed to catch the thief, all three Pokémon would have returned together. Since only one had come back, the thieving Quagsire must have been caught.
What he could never have expected was an Officer Jenny waiting below with her arms folded.
"Quag."
The Quagsire with the Poké Ball in its mouth lounged at the water's edge, looking nothing like a Pokémon that had done anything wrong.
Beside it were more Quagsire, every bit as lazy. Some floated in the river, gazing at the sky, while others sat motionless on the rocks.
Beedrill and Misdreavus had surrounded the thieving Quagsire. They held back only because Officer Jenny was there in uniform, astride her motorcycle.
"Mis..."
Misdreavus shot Beedrill a look. She meant for him to take Officer Jenny down too.
Convinced she had suffered a huge loss, Lady Misdreavus had thrown caution aside. All she wanted was to recover what was hers.
Beedrill shook his head. Couldn't she see Officer Jenny already had a hand on her Poké Ball? A Growlithe could come out at any moment.
Ahead, Dian saw a waterfall even larger than the last one.
He walked slowly to its edge. One glance at the scene below was enough to give him a headache.
Fighting was out of the question. He had finally built a good relationship with an Officer Jenny, and that mattered to his larger plans. He couldn't throw it away over something so small.
"Misdreavus, Beedrill, come back."
Dian leaped from the waterfall, more than ten meters high. A dark shape quickly appeared and lowered him safely to the ground.
Beedrill appeared behind him an instant later.
"So fast!"
