Sunkern edged closer, sniffed, then drew back again.

Skiploom spotted the adorable newcomer and slowly came over. "Skip!"

"Sun!"

At the sight of another Grass-type Pokémon, Sunkern visibly relaxed.

With nothing more for him to do there, Dian went to see what Misdreavus was up to.

He had been ready to take a cue from Goh and sample a Pokéblock to put Sunkern at ease.

Then, suddenly—

Sunkern bounced up and held out its leaves to him. Water glistened on them.

Dian gently stroked Sunkern. "It's okay. You drink it. Grow up big and strong, and then you can evolve."

"Sun! Sun!"

Sunkern chirped happily, apparently just as eager for the day it would evolve into Sunflora.

Dian passed Sunkern and continued forward even more carefully.

Where there was one Sunkern, there was bound to be a whole group sleeping nearby. These Pokémon lived in groups both before and after evolving.

If Dian remembered correctly, there was a town near Violet City devoted to raising Sunflora. It regularly produced Coordinators who excelled at working with them.

For Sunflora to grow properly, they needed sunlight and water of just the right quality. More importantly, they depended heavily on living with others of their kind.

So Trainers who loved Sunflora had gathered together and founded a new town. Every year, more Trainers devoted to Sunflora or Sunkern joined them.

By raising outstanding Sunflora, the town gained access to an important resource: Sun Stones!

And it wasn't just the skilled Trainers the town produced that earned it Sun Stones from the League. Sunflora could also produce Sunflora Spice after absorbing enough sunlight.

People loved the spice, and it was excellent for helping Grass-type Pokémon learn Solar Beam.
