Previously, Professor Suzuki had rejected Dian's theory of evolution without a change in form, believing that a Pokémon's evolution necessarily brought about a physical transformation.
Physical form determined the organization of energy, while that organization, in turn, required a particular physical form.
Take Pikachu and Raichu, for example. Without the boost from an exclusive item like the Light Ball, Pikachu naturally could not match Raichu's capacity to store electricity under equal conditions, nor could Pikachu learn a Hyper Beam unleashed at full power.
That was a limitation of the physical body, one that could not be changed.
Even Dian accepted this principle. However, Misdreavus was not subject to physical constraints, because she was a Ghost-type Pokémon.
What truly limited her, then, was the composition of her energy.
In other words, for Misdreavus, the Dusk Stone required for evolution was more like a catalyst, or a trigger that could induce a more efficient transformation in her energy system.
The Dusk Stone's own energy response was not high. In fact, it was quite low.
Thus, Dian now needed to find a stabilizer, or a more efficient energy source, to stabilize the external changes caused by the transformation of her energy system.
Likewise, achieving a further Mega Evolution in this form would surely be much easier.
And all Mega Evolution required was the creation of a unique Mega Stone for Misdreavus.
Dian already had some leads on that front and had asked Alex of the Lucario Kingdom to keep an eye out for him and contact him whenever he found anything.
What he needed to do now was help Misdreavus complete this "new evolution," or rather, this leap.
