After Dian and the others quickly finished their bowls of egg custard, they were almost helplessly lost in a sense of happiness.
Now he understood why Blissey eggs were so expensive and constantly in short supply. Their deliciousness reached beyond taste; it touched the heart.
Even people with an impaired or fading sense of taste could savor that happiness. That was probably what made the eggs so valuable.
"Dian, here's your Pokémon Pokédex. It contains some basic information about Pokémon, but if you want to learn more, you'll have to work for it yourself."
Nurse Joy handed him a standard red Pokédex. Even the standard model looked incredibly sleek, like a marvel of next-generation technology.
But for Dian, its greatest use was transferring money...
Unlike a phone, the League Pokédex used the League's public network, so its signal was far better. Out in the wilderness, it wouldn't simply turn into a brick the way a phone might.
Still, expecting internet access everywhere was unrealistic. If you were seriously addicted to being online, you were better off staying in town. Otherwise, you'd probably have no signal anyway.
Most Pokémon hated it when humans built facilities where they lived. Put something up one day, and they would tear it down the next. They were diligent about it, too.

Dian took it quickly and breathed a sigh of relief. That was one important task finally done.
"From the look of you, you're planning to set out tomorrow—no, today, aren't you? So I prepared this especially for you."
Putting on a mysterious air, Nurse Joy wagged a finger and took out a rectangular object wrapped in white cloth. "Good luck on your journey! I hope I get to see you compete at this year's Silver Conference."
