"You really are something." Batman couldn't help marveling at how mentally exhausted Roland looked. "How did you even come up with that?"
"Is that really what time stop is for?" Raven looked a little bewildered.
"Of course. This is the proper use of time stop." Roland caught his breath. "Now we can have a proper talk."
"Ma'am, we came here about something." Batman sat across the dining table from Garfield's mother. "Were you once a researcher for H.I.V.E., working in West Africa on a technique called Reverse Evolution to revive extinct animals?"
"...How do you know that? Did H.I.V.E. send you?"
"No. What I want to ask about isn't the Reverse Evolution project. I heard that one of your test subjects contracted a disease you were studying called Sakusha," Batman said. "If I'm not mistaken, that person was Garfield."
"What exactly are you getting at?"
"You saved Garfield with an antibody serum from a West African green monkey, didn't you? A friend of mine developed a similar serum and tested it on himself, but he turned into a monster." Batman handed her a folder. "Yet Garfield didn't have any problems."
"Hold on." Garfield's mother flipped through the documents Batman had given her. "Extracting serum from bat glands to treat deafness? Is this man a genius or a lunatic?"
The three of them waited quietly while Garfield's mother reviewed the experimental data. Garfield's father burst in with a gun in his hands and looked rather confused by the scene.
"He actually had the same idea we did, but there are some problems with this technique..." Garfield's father began reading the documents too, clicking his tongue in amazement now and then.
Garfield cautiously came downstairs. Seeing his parents absorbed in studying something, he couldn't help looking confused.
