Roland Cathedral.

"Professor Anthony Ivo, I didn't expect to see you here." Mr. Freeze greeted Anthony. The man was a renowned academic heavyweight, so naturally he had heard of him. "Did you make that robot that imitated Roland? I thought you studied biology. What, have you switched to physics?"

"Although Amazo is indeed a robot, the technology behind him is actually biotechnology," Professor Anthony Ivo explained. "I created Amazo using absorptive cell technology."

"Well, that cutting-edge technology of yours really is unbelievable," Mr. Freeze marveled. "Absorbing and copying any superpower—that's ridiculously overpowered. But with technology that impressive, couldn't you have just settled for becoming an unsurpassable giant in the scientific community? Why did you have to provoke Roland?"

"How was I supposed to know this priest would be so bizarre?" Professor Anthony Ivo said miserably. "It was all those Pharmaceutical Companies—they really screwed me over."

"How did someone of your standing get mixed up with the likes of them?" Mr. Freeze asked, utterly baffled.

"Well—I—" Professor Anthony Ivo wanted to find an excuse to gloss over the matter, but Roland, who was sitting beside him, read his mind outright. "For immortality."

"Immortality?" Mr. Freeze froze. "Have you really become that obsessed?"

"What do you mean, obsessed? Am I not allowed to have ambitions?" Professor Anthony Ivo retorted.

"The question is, what does immortality have to do with those lousy Pharmaceutical Companies?" Mr. Freeze asked curiously. "They can't even make themselves immortal, can they?"

"Of course not, but they have a collection of long-lived animals that I need."

"Shouldn't you be looking for those at a zoo?"

"A zoo couldn't possibly have a five-hundred-year-old Aldabra giant tortoise, a three-hundred-year-old red-brown carp, a seven-hundred-year-old Greenland shark, an Arctic clam over eight hundred years old—or an unidentified thousand-year-old organism," Professor Anthony Ivo said.
