"Batman... all caught... Gotham Police Department..." Batman focused intently on the sounds coming from Falcone's end. Despite the distance, he could just barely make out a few key words.

The detective's mind raced. Bruce quickly came up with several possibilities, most of which pointed to one man.

Roland.

"Seriously, it's gotten this late?" Roland yawned. "I'm not going back. I'll sleep here tonight."

"Sure, you can use my room." Gordon nodded and led Roland to his room.

It was a study, with bookcases packed full of case files. A folding bed stood against the wall, with a loaded Mossberg M590 shotgun beside its head.

"You sure are careful." Roland picked up the shotgun and examined it.

"Do you know how to use a gun?" Gordon thought Roland's grip looked a little odd. "Don't accidentally fire it."

"Oh." Roland put the gun back, adjusted the pillow, and lay down to sleep.

By the time Roland got up the next morning, Gordon had already gone to work at the police station.

Roland dug two pickles, six eggs, and a can of beef meatballs out of Gordon's fridge, cobbled together a breakfast, then rode his bike to the construction site.

"The boss is back! There must've been a fierce battle last night, huh?"

"Not really. I just took care of some small fry," Roland said. "How's the church coming along?"

"The basement's finished. They're building the stone columns now."

"Oh... that fast? I was only gone for one night, wasn't I?" Roland was a little surprised.

"This is the outskirts. Hardly anyone lives nearby, so they decided to work through the night."

"...Just how much did Bruce pay them?" Roland muttered.

The bank's major shareholders had gathered to discuss doing business with the Falcone family.

"I cannot agree to this proposal.
