Pinwheel Forest

Golden sunlight filtered through the leaves and fell on Bai Shi, warming him.

After catching Cottonee, Bai Shi continued toward Castelia City.

Before he knew it, he had entered a lush, dense forest.

According to his map, it was Pinwheel Forest, between Nacrene City and Castelia City.

Passing through it would take him straight to Skyarrow Bridge, which led to Castelia City.

Bai Shi had already begun some basic training with Cottonee.

The results, however, were less than ideal.

Cottonee was not particularly keen on training or battling.

At first, while it still felt new, Cottonee had shown some enthusiasm and trained diligently as Bai Shi instructed.

But as time went on, it grew bored and began going through the motions.

If Bai Shi urged it to train seriously and spoke even a little too sternly, it would burst into tears.

It gave Bai Shi a headache. He had no idea what to do.

Worse still, Bai Shi discovered that Cottonee was extremely timid.

The sight of any fierce-looking Pokémon made it tremble.

"Cottonee's temperament is a little like Dunsparce's used to be."

"Maybe I can raise Cottonee the way I raised Dunsparce."

After some thought, Bai Shi decided to build Cottonee's confidence by letting it fight weaker opponents.

To that end, he set up camp in Pinwheel Forest and found a Sewaddle for it to battle.

As for Cottonee's performance... Bai Shi hardly knew what to say.

Panicking during a battle and failing to stay calm was one thing.

But its attacks had no aim at all. It could not hit Sewaddle.

Even with Bai Shi calling instructions from the sidelines, Cottonee could do nothing to Sewaddle.

Instead, Sewaddle chased it all over the place with String Shot.

The one thing Cottonee did reasonably well was use Stun Spore.
