"The Infinite Flute?"
Mingyou froze for a moment. He remembered that once this flute was played, the Eon Pokémon could hear it and be summoned, no matter where they were.
So someone else had stolen it?
Then was the reason Latios had spent so long without looking for his sister that he had also been searching for the Infinite Flute? That would explain it.
"Team Rocket probably stole it, right?"
No matter how Mingyou thought about it, that was the only answer he could come up with. Those people must have staked out Latias for a long time before capturing her. Stealing the Infinite Flute along the way would have been easy enough.
But Doduo had taken those people away ages ago. If it was stolen property, the International Police had probably confiscated it too.
"So you'll have to ask them for it."
"No. The Infinite Flute was stolen long before that little accessory of yours took my sister away!"

He didn't have any evidence, of course. After all, he would hear the flute whenever it was played. Its silence all this time meant that it had been sitting somewhere gathering dust. Yet through his connection to the flute, he had a vague feeling that was growing stronger and stronger: whoever currently held it did not have a pure heart!
If the International Police really had taken it, how could someone like that have it? That explanation probably didn't hold up. It was more likely that some other villain had stolen it and intended to
