As the elevator descended past the buildings of Blueberry Academy, the view suddenly opened up. Beneath a dazzling spread of lights, an underwater world came into sight through the glass.
Mingyou had been asking Ogerpon about the Terarium, but the sight drew his attention away. Below them stood an enormous dome.
"My god..."
He stared down, dumbfounded. He couldn't even think of a word to describe what he was seeing.
An immense island floated in the depths of the sea. Even from this distance, it looked larger than Kitakami. A still greater transparent sphere enveloped the whole island like a bubble, making it resemble the Dragon Palace from the legend of Urashima Taro. It was like something out of a fairy tale.
This was the Terarium, built above an undersea resource-development facility and connected to Blueberry Academy by elevator. It was a miracle of technology and sheer ingenuity, the only one of its kind in human history!
"People from Unova really are loaded!"
Mingyou was so overwhelmed that he nearly ground his molars together. He couldn't imagine how much labor, material, and money it had taken to build an ecological park the size of Kitakami beneath the sea.
And building it was only one thing. The cost of keeping it running had to be astronomical too... No wonder the academy focused on training battle-oriented Trainers. They were the richest group of Trainers around.
While Mingyou marveled at the Terarium's scale, Ogerpon suddenly felt as though someone had touched her feeler.
"Hmm?"
She glanced up at Mingyou, but his attention was elsewhere. Then she looked at Riolu and the others. None of them seemed to be watching her either.
Maybe she'd imagined it...
Ogerpon thought no more of it. The figure hidden in the air seemed to breathe a sigh of
