Ch. 41It Would Be Rude Not to Lose Your Memory Too
Key plot points and events
- Akari visits Mingyou’s fruit stall and is startled by the high prices. To promote his business, Mingyou gives her a Snorlium Berry for free. Her Hisuian Zorua enjoys it, and Akari agrees to tell the summer-camp students about the stall—while still urging him to lower his prices.
- Akari recognizes Mingyou’s Wyrdeer and reveals that she was found by a river in Verdant Town in February with extensive memory loss. She remembers her name and knowledge of Pokémon and Trainers, but little else.
- Mingyou sympathizes and claims that a past bout of carsickness restored his own lost memories. After leaving, Akari wonders why he and his Wyrdeer feel familiar.
- Wyrdeer admits that Akari seems familiar too and wonders if she may once have been its Trainer. Mingyou decides they can investigate while she remains in Kitakami.
- Back at the Manor, Munchlax asks to join Mingyou on his trips to Kitakami Center, despite being banned there. Mingyou catches it in a Poké Ball, making it his second Pokémon. Ogerpon, reluctant to be seen by the townspeople, grows envious and begins contemplating an idea involving its Ogre Mask.
Character developments and interactions
- Akari is warm and grateful, caring for her Zorua and wanting to repay the Community Center staff. Her memory loss leaves her feeling out of place, and her recognition of Wyrdeer hints at a forgotten connection.
- Mingyou uses humor to respond to Akari’s story, while quietly suspecting that he may share the same mysterious history of amnesia. He also accommodates Munchlax’s request, though he warns it not to cause trouble.
- Wyrdeer is unusually distracted by Akari, suggesting a possible past bond between them.
- Munchlax eagerly finds a way to accompany Mingyou despite its ban, while Ogerpon struggles with its fear of being recognized and envies Munchlax’s freedom.
- Akari later reunites with Carmine, who invites her to dinner at her family’s home. Akari offers to make mousse cake, but Carmine begs her not to.
Significant themes
