Sword Douluo was already level 96...
Qian Renxue made a note of the intelligence, though Sword Douluo clearly had no intention of hiding it.
Before long, a grand procession approached the gates of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect.
At its head was a man in a magnificent dragon-patterned robe. He was built like a dragon, and though his temples had gone gray, he remained vigorous.
He was Yu Yuanzhen, Sect Master of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan, Gangzi's father and the strictest father in every sense of the word—the Thunder Douluo!
"Sect Master Ning, it's been far too long!"
"Your Holiness Lightning, it has indeed. You're as hale as ever!"
After a brief exchange of greetings, the group entered the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect.
Sword and Bone Douluo exchanged a knowing glance and began bickering. As if by accident, Bone Douluo let slip that Sword Douluo had reached level 96.
Yu Yuanzhen's expression did not change. He even cupped his hands and congratulated Sword Douluo, but inwardly, he was rather disappointed.
If they had been at the same level, he might have been tempted to test Sword and Bone Douluo. Now that Sword Douluo had reached level 96, that temptation was gone.
Yu Yuanzhen composed himself and proudly gestured toward the two young men behind him. "Allow me to introduce them, Sect Master Ning. These are the Blue Lightning Twin Stars of my Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan: Tianheng and Tianxin."
"Greetings, Sect Master Ning." Yu Tianheng and Yu Tianxin cupped their hands respectfully.
Ning Fengzhi smiled and nodded. "Tianheng and Tianxin look no older than twelve or thirteen, yet both are already close to becoming Soul Elders. They're sure to become the Blue Lightning Twin Douluo one day!"
"Haha, you flatter them, Sect Master Ning." Despite his modest words, Yu Yuanzhen puffed out his chest with pride.
Sword Douluo nearly rolled his eyes to the heavens. Then he thought of his own disciple, and a confident smile crept across his face. He said with a helpless sigh:
"The Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan certainly produces talent after talent. Ah, unlike my troublesome disciple. He awakened Innate Full Soul Power just a month ago and immediately started working on a sword technique of his own. It's still only taking shape, and his Soul Power Level is just 14. Ah, he can't compare to your boys!"
Yu Yuanzhen: "..."
The smile on Yu Yuanzhen's face stiffened. Chen Xin, you old bastard, could you wipe that grin off your face before saying all that?
"I'm getting on in years, and I have few pleasures left. I simply enjoy watching spirited young people. Might I have the honor of meeting this genius with Innate Full Soul Power?" Yu Yuanzhen asked with a smile, intent on testing him.
He might not be able to match Sword and Bone Douluo, but perhaps his Tianheng and Tianxin were more capable than the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect's younger generation. Their Innate Soul Power had only been level eight, but talent merely set the starting point. How far they went would depend on their own efforts.
"Of course!" Ning Fengzhi smiled and called out, "Rongrong, do you know where your brother Taibai is?"
Ning Rongrong, who had shown little interest in welcoming the guests and had been playing with the flowers and grass by the entrance, finally came over. She greeted the elders with a giggle, then put on an angry face.
"Hmph! I don't care where that sword-obsessed boy is. He never plays with me!"
"There you go, sulking like a little girl again. Don't you want your brother Taibai to write you another poem?" Ning Fengzhi smiled, rubbing his daughter's head as he dangled the bait.
A poem!
Ning Rongrong's eyes lit up. She blinked expectantly. "I'll take you to brother Taibai, Dad. Will you ask him to write me another poem? Only then might I forgive him!"
"All right, all right." Ning Fengzhi smiled indulgently.
Ning Rongrong skipped ahead, leading everyone to the back mountain of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect.
On the back mountain, a rushing stream plunged over a cliff, forming a waterfall veiled in mist.
Beneath the waterfall, two figures—one tall, one small—stood with their backs to an ancient tree. One was free-spirited and unrestrained; the other, steady and reserved.
"Taibai, should you really be sneaking drinks at your age?" Long Wushuang's mouth twitched as he watched Li Bai pour wine from a gourd into his mouth.
"Wine clears the mind and speeds the flow of Soul Power. That's how I'll master my Green Lotus Sword Technique!" Li Bai shook the wine gourd as he spoke.
The Green Lotus Sword appeared in his hand. "Brother Wushuang, come try my sword technique!"
His blade shot forward like a dragon, straight for Long Wushuang's face!
"First Soul Skill: Bone Armor!"
Long Wushuang reacted at once. A thick layer of white bone armor appeared over his body.
The sword struck the Bone Armor, concentrating its force on a single point, but it still lacked the strength to pierce it.
At ten years old, Long Wushuang had already reached level 22. That strike could not hurt him.
"Taibai, your swordplay is sharp, but there's a gap between our strength!"
"Haha... That's what makes it a challenge!" Li Bai took another swig, then tossed his gourd into the air. It landed securely in the fork of the tree.
Long Wushuang glanced at the gourd without thinking, then realized his mistake.
A trap!
"First Soul Skill: Bring in the Wine!"
The sword thrust straight toward him.
Five meters away, an afterimage lingered where Li Bai had stood.
The Green Lotus Sword failed to break through the Bone Armor, but Long Wushuang froze in place.
Neither Li Bai nor Long Wushuang noticed that Ning Rongrong had brought a large group to the top of the waterfall, where they were watching Li Bai's sword technique.
"Brother Taibai..." Ning Rongrong was about to call out, but Ning Fengzhi stopped her.
Ning Fengzhi smiled faintly. "Rongrong, watch your brother Taibai's sword technique closely!"
"Oh~" Ning Rongrong grew curious about Li Bai's sword technique too.
He practiced it every day instead of playing with me. What had he actually learned?
"What a fearsome First Soul Skill. It ignores defense and stuns its target by force?" Yu Yuanzhen said in surprise.
"Yes. Unless someone's Soul Power is more than three times Taibai's, no defense will work," Sword Douluo said casually.
"Show-off." Bone Douluo rolled his eyes and stubbornly added, "Wushuang is holding back some of his Soul Power. Otherwise, that move might not have worked at all."
Sword Douluo glanced at Bone Douluo and could not be bothered to argue.
Below the waterfall, the second thrust of Li Bai's Bring in the Wine passed through Long Wushuang's body again.
Sword light flashed in every direction.
Over the brief three seconds that Long Wushuang was stunned, his Bone Armor had already suffered some damage.
He hurriedly channeled Soul Power to repair it.
Then he swung a heavy fist, sending a series of sharp cracks through the air.
But his fist never struck Li Bai.
Li Bai had used the third stage of his First Soul Skill to return to the afterimage he had left behind.
"Taibai, it's no fun if you just keep dodging." Long Wushuang finally understood why his master always looked so miserable after sparring with Sword Douluo.
His master could use spatial Teleportation, but he was still a little slower than Sword Douluo. Being led around like a dog on a leash felt awful.
