When the nurse at the little hospital saw the young thugs covered in injuries, she gasped inwardly. Good grief, they were hurt even worse than usual today.
"What job did you take? How did you get hurt this badly?" The young nurse went over to support the most badly injured one.
The thugs grinned at her and lined up neatly to take numbers. The other patients were already used to this sight, and some even came over to joke with them.
"Mimi, don't ask so many questions yet. Help me put my arm back first. I think it's dislocated." One of them, a boy with yellow hair, collapsed into a chair, grimacing.
"Don't ask, don't ask—that's all you ever say. I've told you to find a proper job. A proper one! Keep running around like this, and one day you'll run into someone you can't handle. Then we'll see if you make it out alive." Exasperated, the nurse poked his forehead. Her tone was fierce, but her hands were gentle as she reset his arm.
"Hiss... Mimi, easy. My forehead's hurt too." ┗|`O′|┛ "Owww!" The pain made Yellow Hair slump in his chair. He raised a trembling hand, curling his fingers into a dainty pose.
The others burst out laughing at his ridiculous gesture.
"Serves you right. Bear with it." Even the stern-faced nurse was amused by him.
Yellow Hair raised his eyebrows smugly at his brothers, claiming credit. See? I made Mimi laugh.
Seeing Mimi's disapproving expression, Purple Hair scratched his head in frustration. Who didn't want a proper job? He looked at his younger brothers.
"Mimi, we want proper jobs too, but who's going to hire people like us with no education? We could haul bricks at a construction site, but the wages take forever to come through. Last time, we worked for months for nothing, and the boss ran off with the money."
"Of course we know this isn't good. It's fine if we go hungry, but our little brothers and sisters have to eat. They have to go to school. They can't end up like us."
The nurse opened her mouth, unsure what to say. It was true that few children from orphanages had ever been to school, especially the children from their orphanage.
"Exactly, Mimi. If we hadn't gotten jobs like these, you have no idea what those months were like..." Taking advantage of being the youngest, Green Hair shamelessly hugged the nurse.
"Ah, but you can't keep doing this. We know you aren't really doing anything bad, but other people won't believe that."
"Think about it. Do you really think those rich people's dirty little schemes are that easy to carry out? If they get exposed, won't you be the scapegoats?"
The nurse brought them into the doctor's office and closed the door, lecturing her disobedient little brothers like a caring older sister. She thought of the reports she had seen on the news.
People paid Purple Hair and the others so much to rob them or get into fights for a reason. If things went well, fine. If they failed, Purple Hair and the others were the easiest people to make scapegoats of. Prison would be getting off lightly. What she feared was that they would be killed in secret.
Not every rich person was kind. If Purple Hair and the others disappeared one day somewhere none of them could see, she couldn't imagine how frantic the orphanage mother would be.
"Well said. Anyone who targets our president's family is asking to die. Crushing you would only take a minute, after all."
The door to the doctor's office opened, and a group of men in black came in, led by a young man in a suit.
The thugs hadn't expected to be tracked down so quickly. They saw that Mimi was too frightened to move, her face pale.
Purple Hair pulled Mimi behind him, and the other thugs surrounded her in a protective circle.
The nurse's mind raced as she tried to think of a way to cover Purple Hair and the others' escape. Only when he caught her hand did she snap out of it. Peering past his shoulder, she realized the man in front of them looked familiar, but she couldn't place him right away.

The nurse paced up and down the corridor, occasionally trying to creep closer and eavesdrop, only to be stopped by the bodyguards every time. Faced with those tall, powerful bodyguards, she and the thugs lost their nerve.
"Stingy. Fine, we won't listen. Why do you have to be so mean?"
"Exactly. Bullying kids. Have you no shame?"
"...Strictly speaking, we're already adults. He's the only minor."
"I turn eighteen next month. I'm not a kid anymore."
Yellow Hair and his brothers squatted in a corner, grumbling about the bodyguards at the door. One after another, they raised their hands to declare that they were adults. Green Hair was the exception, and his older brothers pushed his hand down.
Seeing that they were still in the mood to complain and weren't worried about Purple Hair at all, the nurse was so annoyed she almost laughed. She rolled up her sleeves and was about to go teach them a lesson.
Then she heard the door behind her open and turned to look.
"Purple Hair, are you all right?" The nurse watched the young man in the suit warily and looked Purple Hair up and down several times. Only after finding no new wounds did she breathe a sigh of relief.
Under the young man's teasing gaze, Purple Hair blushed for once and cleared his throat.
"Mimi, I'm fine. Help Yellow Hair and the others with their medicine first. I'll walk him out."
"Huh..." The nurse's mouth fell open as she watched them leave.
That was it??? Had he only come to threaten them? No compensation?
The thugs were stunned too. They had thought they would be sent to the police station or made to pay compensation, but that was it???
Or had their boss already paid?
Yellow Hair shook his head. He still had all their household money on him, and their boss hadn't asked him for any.
The thugs were completely baffled. Did the victim from breakfast actually like that whole hero-saving-the-damsel routine? Good grief, who knew what these rich people were thinking.
At the hospital entrance, the young man put on his glasses. "Then we'll stick to what we just agreed. When that person contacts you, keep the evidence, and we won't hold you responsible."
"All right... Um, can we still ask him for the payment for this job?" Purple Hair looked at the young man uneasily. He had a family to feed.
The young man raised an eyebrow, took out his phone, and walked aside to make a call. Purple Hair watched his back anxiously, praying they would be allowed to take the money.
Before long, the young man returned. "Our boss said to handle it the same way you always have."
"Thank you, thank you." Purple Hair broke into a happy smile and bowed in thanks.
The young man raised a hand. "Don't thank me. Thank our boss's wife. She has a kind heart. Are you planning to keep leading them into this kind of work forever?"
"Boss, they didn't bully you or make any unreasonable demands, did they?"
"Boss, I'll put your medicine on."
"Go away. Let Mimi do it for him."
When the thugs saw Purple Hair return, they all crowded around him, chattering. The nurse carefully applied medicine to his injuries.
Purple Hair grimaced as the medicine stung. "They didn't bully me. We'll talk about the details when we get home. Mimi, how much is the medical bill this time?"
"Boss, we already paid."
"All right. Mimi, we're heading back. Come visit us at the orphanage when you have time."
"Okay. I'll come on my day off."
After saying goodbye to the nurse, Purple Hair walked out of the hospital, the sunlight dazzling his eyes. He looked up for a while and smiled, touching the business card in his pocket as he watched his younger brothers fooling around nearby.
