Outside the Star Dou Great Forest!
A group walked out with a spring in their step.
Dugu Xin took a deep breath of fresh air.
"These past few days were wild. The Earth Bear King, the Violent Gold Tiger Demon King, the Xuanming Turtle... I watched all those top-tier Soul Beasts die right in front of me. I've seen more in these few days than I did in the past twenty-odd years!"
Dugu Bo smacked the back of Dugu Xin's head and said in a tone of exasperation:
"You're both Soul Kings. Just look at him!"
"Lin Feng, Young Friend, can kill a ninety-thousand-year Soul Beast on his own, while you'd struggle against a Ten-Thousand-Year Soul Beast!"
"You'd better learn from him!"
Dugu Xin pursed his lips. He wanted to shout that even the old man couldn't kill a ninety-thousand-year Soul Beast alone, so what right did he have to demand it of him?
But he swallowed the words. He was afraid Dugu Bo would beat him up.
Then he looked at Lin Feng with open envy.
Lin Feng was younger than him and stronger than him. Envy was no longer the half of it; he almost worshipped the guy.
"Brother Lin Feng, you're my idol from now on. I'll definitely learn from you."
Dugu Bo looked at Lin Feng. If his own son had even half Lin Feng's talent, he would have a lot less to worry about.
"Lin Feng, Young Friend, it's time for my son and me to say goodbye. The Soul Beasts you're hunting now are beyond anything I can help with."
"Still, we did accompany you all this way. Even if we weren't much help, we put in the effort. Could you spare us a little more of the antidote to Jade Phosphorous Serpent Poison?"
Lin Feng wasn't so stingy that he would withhold the antidote. The two of them had traveled all the way from Heaven Dou City to the Star Dou Great Forest with him.
"Please don't say that, senior. I'm grateful enough that you came with me."
As he spoke, he took a dagger and a Jade Bottle from his Storage Soul Tool.
To everyone's astonishment, Lin Feng drew the blade across his palm.
Awkwardly enough, his skin had grown so tough that the blade failed to cut it.
Lin Feng gave a soft sound of surprise. He channeled his Soul Power into the dagger and slashed harder, finally opening a cut in his palm.
Blood flowed into the Jade Bottle.
Dugu Bo frowned at first, then realization dawned on his face.
"Lin Feng, Young Friend, was it your blood you added to that tonic?"
Lin Feng handed over the Jade Bottle, his expression unchanged.
"That's right. I ate two special herbs that strengthened my body and neutralized all poisons. Their medicinal power is still in my blood."
"Senior, this blood is enough to completely rid you and your son of Jade Phosphorous Serpent Poison. But removing the poison isn't the end of it. The backlash comes from a flaw in your Martial Souls."
"The Jade Phosphorous Serpent Poison will eventually return. If each of you absorbs a poison-attribute Soul Bone, you can force the returning poison into the Soul Bones and store it there. Then it won't harm your bodies."
Dugu Bo's eyes grew brighter and brighter. He clasped his hands and bowed.
"Lin Feng, Young Friend, words cannot repay such a kindness. If you ever need my son or me, just say the word. Even if we're a thousand miles away, we'll come to help."
Dugu Bo was a man of his word. Lin Feng believed him.
"All right. I'll be sure to call on you both again."
Dugu Bo left with Dugu Xin.
Ah Yin took Lin Feng's hand and brought her nose close to his palm for a sniff. Then she touched a slender finger to the blood, opened her small mouth, and tasted the drop on her fingertip.
Her eyes lit up.
"A Feng, those were no ordinary herbs. That pure Ice and Fire Energy is tremendously beneficial to plant Soul Beasts."
"Even drinking a little of your blood would greatly speed up my cultivation. If I could get a large amount of that Ice and Fire Energy, I could reach maturity sooner... and break through to Soul Saint."
An idea stirred in Lin Feng's mind. To Ah Yin, the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well would be little different from the Divine Realm.
He leaned toward her and looked straight into her eyes. As the distance between them narrowed, his warm breath brushed her face.
Ah Yin blushed. Her gaze wandered and she shifted uneasily, but her feet stayed rooted to the spot.
"A Feng, what are you... trying to do?"
Lin Feng spoke earnestly.
"Ah Yin, can I trust you completely?"
The question stunned her. She sensed that an extraordinary opportunity was right in front of her.
Whether she could seize it might depend on her answer.
Ah Yin steadied herself. Lin Feng's impossibly beautiful face was right before her. Her gaze no longer wavered; she met his eyes firmly.
"A Feng, you can trust me completely. I would never sell you out or betray you. If I break my word, may heavenly lightning reduce me to ashes!"
Lin Feng pressed his lips into a thin line. His eyes flickered as though he were weighing how much of her promise was sincere.
For reasons she couldn't explain, Ah Yin grew anxious too. She was afraid he wouldn't believe her.
Seconds passed. Her heart sank lower and lower, and she was just about to say something more.
Then Lin Feng smiled. His smile unfurled like a peacock spreading its tail, and Ah Yin couldn't look away.
"Ah Yin, I believe you!"
"I've decided to take you somewhere. That's where I picked the Icefire Immortal Herb I ate!"
"I'm sure you'll love it there!"
He believes me. I have a place in his heart!
Ah Yin almost cried with joy. She had been so afraid Lin Feng wouldn't trust her. The slight furrow in her brow smoothed away.
Holding his hand, Ah Yin brushed her fingers over the cut in his palm. Warm blue light surged around it, and new flesh knitted together at a visible pace.
"A Feng, I won't let you down."
Lin Feng took her hand in his, smiling gently as he spoke.
"Mm. We haven't had a proper meal in all these days in the Star Dou Great Forest. Come on, let's find a nearby city and eat our fill before we head to that valley."
Hand in hand, they left the Star Dou Great Forest. They had clearly grown closer than before.
Half a day later, they reached Xilu City!
The city stood on the border between two great empires. Trade flourished there, and its streets bustled with life.
Lin Feng had meant to eat first, but the moment Ah Yin entered the city, she discovered an instinctive talent for shopping. Eyes shining, she dragged him through the streets, heading wherever the crowds were thickest.
Perhaps it was fate!
There on the street, Lin Feng and Ah Yin unexpectedly crossed paths with two tall, powerfully built men who stood like iron towers.
"Ah Hao, what are you looking at?"
Tang Xiao followed Tang Hao's gaze.
Ah Yin was bent over a stall, examining several hairpins. Her long blue hair cascaded down her back, and her soft eyes and delicate features made every expression and smile irresistibly captivating.
Then Tang Xiao, like Tang Hao, stared at Ah Yin, unable to take his eyes off her.
