What Do the Three Elders Want with Me?

After leaving the guest hall area, Jiang Yuan and Dan Chen headed toward the Pill Tower's Medicinal Ingredient Treasury.

Walking beside him, Dan Chen glanced at Jiang Yuan from time to time, still thinking about the pill from earlier. "Jiang Yuan, what medicinal ingredients does that pill require? I'll help you get them ready."

Jiang Yuan thought for a moment before saying, "The medicinal ingredients needed for an Eighth-Tier Pill are all rather special. I'll make you a list later, but a few of the main ingredients may be difficult to find."

Dan Chen still patted her chest confidently. "Don't worry. The Pill Tower's Medicinal Ingredient Treasury has everything. Just write them down."

As they were talking, a messenger disciple approached from the opposite direction.

Upon seeing Jiang Yuan, the disciple hurried over and cupped his hands. "Senior Brother Jiang Yuan, the Three Elders have asked you to come to the main hall."

Jiang Yuan stopped in his tracks. Dan Chen beside him also looked puzzled. "What do the Three Elders want with me?"

The messenger disciple shook his head. "I don't know. The elders only asked that you come over."

Jiang Yuan nodded, then turned to glance at Dan Chen. "Go take care of your things. I'll see what the elders want."

Dan Chen acknowledged him and said, "All right, I'll head back to my quarters and wait for you."

With that, Dan Chen headed off in another direction, while Jiang Yuan followed the messenger disciple toward the main hall. Before long, Jiang Yuan arrived at its entrance, pushed the door open, and stepped inside.

The Three Elders—Xuan Yi, Xuan Kongzi, and Tian Leizi—were seated inside the main hall. Their gazes all settled on Jiang Yuan as he entered, and Xuan Kongzi spoke first. "You're here, Jiang Yuan. Have a seat."

Jiang Yuan walked over, found a seat, and sat down before asking, "What did the Three Elders want to see me about?"

Xuan Kongzi glanced at Xuan Yi and Tian Leizi beside him before speaking. "We called you here because there's something we'd like to discuss with you. The seal on the Thunder Venerable... when do you intend to lift it?"

Jiang Yuan's expression did not change. He simply replied, "I don't want to."

Xuan Kongzi showed no surprise at his answer, as though he had already expected Jiang Yuan to say that.

Tian Leizi, however, spoke up from beside him. "That fellow certainly was arrogant before, but we can't have the people from the Wind-Thunder Pavilion refusing to leave the Pill Tower forever. Do you intend to keep him sealed like this indefinitely?"

Leaning back in his chair, Jiang Yuan said casually, "Then let him stay sealed. Let him learn his lesson. We can talk about it once he truly understands that he was wrong."

Throughout this, Xuan Yi had remained silent, quietly watching Jiang Yuan with a thoughtful look in her eyes.

After a brief silence, she nodded. "All right. It's your affair, so you can decide for yourself."

"But there's another matter we need to tell you about. The Hall of Souls has been increasingly active across the Dou Qi Continent lately. Several of the Pill Tower's properties have been harassed. We elders discussed it and decided to send you out to deal with it."

Jiang Yuan raised his eyebrows at the mention of the Hall of Souls. "The Hall of Souls?"

Xuan Kongzi nodded. "Yes, the Hall of Souls. They've established a stronghold near the border of the Central Plains and frequently attack the surrounding factions."

"Quite a few of our Pill Tower disciples have suffered at their hands, so we'd like you to take care of it."

Jiang Yuan fell silent for a moment, then asked, "Where exactly is it?"

Seeing that Jiang Yuan had not refused, Xuan Kongzi immediately breathed a sigh of relief and told him the precise location.

"It isn't too far away. At your speed, you should be able to get there in two days. But the people from the Hall of Souls there are quite strong, so be careful."

Jiang Yuan nodded to show that he understood, but inwardly, he began to look forward to it. He had long wanted to face the people from the Hall of Souls, and this was the perfect opportunity to test his skills.

At that moment, Xuan Yi finally spoke again. "If you decide to go, remember to take Dan Chen with you. That girl is reliable and can lend you a hand."

Jiang Yuan acknowledged her. "Understood."

After the Three Elders gave him a few more reminders, Jiang Yuan rose and left the main hall. Once outside, he looked up at the sky and figured he could set out first thing the next morning.

The people from the Hall of Souls had committed countless atrocities across the Dou Qi Continent. This trip would give him a chance to deliver justice on heaven's behalf, and he might even obtain something good from them. With his heaven-defying comprehension, he might gain some new insight as well.

At that thought, Jiang Yuan smiled and headed toward his quarters, ready to pack for the journey.
