Early the next morning, Luo Bin ran into Harry, Ron, and Hermione in the Great Hall. Feigning confusion, he asked, "Harry, Ron, why didn't you two get on the train yesterday?"

"Don't remind me. The barrier at Platform Nine and Three-Quarters suddenly stopped working. It turned into a solid wall. If our luggage trolley hadn't been in front of us, Harry and I would've cracked our heads open. After that..."

Ron launched into a vivid account of yesterday's misfortunes, unaware that Draco was standing behind him, listening.

"Well, well. Arthur Weasley makes a big show of searching wizarding households and confiscating any enchanted Muggle objects he finds. Seeing how poor the Weasley family is, I thought Arthur was an honest man. Turns out he's been stealing the evidence himself!"

"Draco, that's enough. Keep it up and I'll punch you!"

Hermione brandished her fist at him.

"Hmph. Ron, your parents can't even afford a new textbook. Can your family afford the fine?"

"Fine?"

Until Draco said that word, Ron had thought the consequences of taking the car without permission were that his dad had lost a secondhand car, the Weasley family's reputation had suffered, and Gryffindor had lost points—which, in the end, it hadn't.
