Thud!

The pixie had barely let go of the girl's wrist before it crashed onto the floor. It could neither fly nor crawl, only wriggle in place.

Blaise worked up the courage to take a closer look. Petrificus Totalus had half worked, stiffening the pixie's wings, legs, and claws. His confidence soared, and he joined Robin Sear in rescuing the students under attack.

Elsewhere, the three standing back to back could barely lift their aching arms, but more and more pixies kept swarming them.

Hermione saw three pixies swooping toward her and swung her arms with all her might.

She missed them and lost her "weapon" as well!

Two pixies flew at her face, while a third seized her wrist. Just as its sharp teeth were about to pierce her skin, she heard three cries of "Petrificus Totalus!"

The rigid, blue-gray pixies dropped to the floor.

"Hermione, use the Full Body-Bind Curse!"

Robin Sear called out the reminder while helping Harry and Ron fend off their attackers.

"Oh, right!"

After a few seconds of stunned confusion, Hermione whipped out her wand and cast the spell at a snarling pixie. Harry and Ron hurriedly drew their wands too.

"Petrificus Totalus."

Ron made the wand movement at a pixie and spoke with determination.

Bang! Damage to the pixie: zero. Damage to Ron: one hundred.

He had petrified himself. In a way, though, at least he was safe.

"Robin... Robin, help me... Hurry!"

The plea sounded familiar, like Draco's, but Robin Sear looked around and saw no sign of him.

"Over... I'm over here! In the corner, under the pile of broken desks! Hurry, I can't get out!"

Robin Sear looked toward the corner. When had that pile of chairs appeared?

What on earth was Draco thinking?
