Lockhart lay amid his signed photographs.

The seagull hopped away from a photograph of a smiling Lockhart and landed on the floor beside the desk.

In the blink of an eye, a second Gavin appeared in the office.

The portraits on the walls, which had been chattering away, all fell silent. In one, a Lockhart wearing lake-blue robes slowly widened his eyes.

"The second personality really came out!"

"Shut up," Cordelia said with a frown.

The portrait froze, then muttered, "The first personality has quite a temper."

Cordelia glared at it. It immediately turned its head aside, pretending it had said nothing, and began to whistle.

Then she looked back at Gavin, raising one eyebrow slightly as though she wanted him to say something.

But Gavin wasn't paying her any attention. He had already gone over to Lockhart and crouched beside him.

He felt the side of Lockhart's neck first, confirming that his pulse was steady.

Cordelia thought he was worried about Lockhart's condition.

"I didn't use much magic—"

Then she saw him draw his wand and press it to Lockhart's temple.

Cordelia raised an eyebrow. "What are you doing?"

"Looking for an Armenian in his memories."

Cordelia glanced at Lockhart on the floor, puzzled.

"An Armenian? What for?"

"Lockhart once traveled with an Armenian Wizard. After that wizard invented the Homorphus Charm, Lockhart stole his story. I'm interested in the spell, so I want to see what really happened."

Cordelia fell silent for two seconds, then pursed her lips, looking a little unhappy.

"So that's why you insisted on coming along." She added under her breath, "I thought you were worried about me."

Gavin didn't look up. "Worrying about you was the main reason."

"As if I believe you! Hmph!"

Cordelia turned toward the door, but she couldn't stop
