Background and History

Gavin is an adult from another world living as the young son of Gu Jianguo and Lin Wanyin in 1991 Britain. Already admitted to Eton, he receives a Hogwarts letter and chooses magical study. He first secures an Oxford doctoral place through a research proposal to Professor Bill Roscoe, arranging the flexibility and guardianship needed to attend Hogwarts as well 1 2 4.

At Hogwarts, the Sorting Hat favors Slytherin, but Gavin persuades it to place him in Hufflepuff. He studies spells privately in the Room of Requirement and earns attention by helping rescue a student from Devil’s Snare. On Halloween, he kills an attacking troll with improvised magic, exhausting himself so severely that he is hospitalized 8 12 16 17.
