"There should only be the two of us for now." Gavin slipped the Book of Ten Thousand Spirits Calculation back into his pocket.

Newt shook his head. His gaze swept between them, and he still looked unconvinced.

"Miss Rowle said just now that she was perfectly normal."

Cordelia felt slandered and pouted.

Perhaps she was growing more comfortable with Newt, or perhaps she was drawing on the lingering emotions of the Obscurus. Either way, she spoke up boldly.

"Mr. Scamander, you said you were just a writer!" Cordelia retorted. "What kind of writer carries a Nundu around?!"

Newt froze. He avoided Cordelia's eyes and wisely shut his mouth.

Gavin didn't dare speak either. Even he knew better than to cross Cordelia right now.

The three of them could only stand there staring at one another.

The night wind blew across the charred ruins. Things had become a little awkward.

Someone kicked open the rear doors.

More than a dozen wizards in black robes jumped out one after another.

Watching the truck disgorge what seemed like an endless stream of people, Gavin found the sight strangely familiar—

It reminded him of a legendary vehicle from the East in his previous life: the Wuling Hongguang.

"What the hell!"

The leading Dark Wizard stared at the deep crater before him and roared, "Where's our Quarantine Station? Where did that enormous building go?"

At the sight of them, Cordelia immediately turned to Gavin.

Gavin happened to look at her at the same moment.

"I'll do it!" they said almost together.

"No, let me." Gavin beat her to it.
