"No, it's not that." Malfoy glanced around, as if making sure no one could overhear them, before saying, "Greengrass was told by her family to get close to you."
"Her family told her to? What do you mean?"
"They told her to approach you. She told me she can hardly stand the idea of marrying a Muggle-born wizard. She doesn't like your blood status. She's only getting close to you because her family told her she had to." Malfoy spilled it all at once.
"Because of what happened over Christmas, my father joined forces with several Pure-blood families to pressure the Egyptian Wizards' Council. The Greengrass family was one of them. She told me her father has wanted her to get close to you ever since."
Will understood what had happened.
