If anyone had seen what was happening in the Room of Requirement just then, it would probably have scared them half to death.
A silver wolf with sleek, gleaming fur held a Wand and kept muttering spells in an odd-sounding voice. A wolf's mouth made it hard for Will to pronounce them; he even had to wrestle with the wording of some Charms over and over. Most astonishing of all, most of the wolf's spells worked.
That would have defied a Muggle's understanding, but even Wizards would have found it unbelievable. After all, once Wizards turned into animals, they had a hard time drawing on Magic.
After experimenting for a while, the silver wolf changed into a lion, an eagle, a black badger, and a snake.
A few hours later, Will sat in a chair, human again. He could now turn into animals, though to other Wizards, an animal with Magic might seem strange.
"Does this mean I've become an Animagus?" Will rubbed his brow. The heavy drain on his Magic had left him listless, but he was getting used to it. With no mana bar, casting spells with Sanity was just like that.
"No, that's not right. This is Transfiguration under Formless Chaos. Becoming an Animagus wouldn't drain Magic this quickly."
His journey toward becoming an Animagus still had to continue. Will rubbed his brow, glanced at the enchanted clock, then left the Room of Requirement and summoned Anco. The Room of Requirement was now "locked," so Anco could not get in.
It was already quite late. He had slept for almost a full day and night again, and Dumbledore had told him the professors had been complaining about him lately. Even those who knew how capable Will was did not approve of him "skipping class."
After dinner, Will
