On the next full moon, Will brought a condemned prisoner into the stone house.
The man was in his thirties, with a brutish face. Will lifted the Imperius Curse from him, and he immediately began to struggle and curse.
But when he turned and saw the hunger and savagery in the werewolf's eyes, his face went deathly pale. His mouth hung open, but no sound came out.
Will did not hesitate. He commanded the werewolf to step forward and bite the prisoner.
Then he moved aside and began to observe.
The prisoner's screams echoed through the stone house, but Will paid them no mind. His Wizard's Eye was active. In his sight, the prisoner's body was like a transparent diagram. Blood vessels, muscles, bones—everything was laid bare before him.
The werewolf venom began to spread.
The substance injected by the werewolf's teeth was no ordinary venom.
To Will's eye, it appeared as an eerie gray-black, almost alive, like tiny, twisted worms slowly invading the Muggle prisoner's body.
Will took out his notebook and recorded what he saw as he watched.
"After injection, werewolf venom spreads like a virus, but it attacks the heart and brain first."
Will was about to think further when a commotion sounded behind him. He turned and saw several condemned prisoners from earlier experiments. They had become werewolves and were struggling madly, the chains restraining them rattling under the strain.
Will waved his wand. The chains turned into soft strands of waterweed, but they wrapped even tighter and covered the werewolves' mouths.
He turned back to his observation. Fortunately, he had lost no time.
In Will's sight, the moment the werewolf venom reached the prisoner's heart, the man's body jerked as though an electric current had passed through it. Will saw magical structures suddenly spread outward
