"You, out." Will glanced at Ranrok. "Just guard the door."
Ranrok walked stiffly away. The light of the Ancient Magic Core reflected in Will's silver-gray eyes.
"Beautiful..."
The core's magical structure lay bare before Will. Even with those dark red things drifting through it, the structure remained beautiful.
It was an intriguing structure, with two nested layers. The inner layer belonged to the core itself. It was compact and stable, but the dark red things drifting through it might cause faults in its structure.
The outer metal framework, crafted by Goblins, carried magic of its own and formed a second magical layer. It held the entire Ancient Magic Core tightly in place, preventing any instability from causing it to collapse.
Will's plan for the Ancient Magic Core was straightforward: replicate its magical structure. This time, though, it would probably be the hardest structure he had ever tried to reproduce.
The Ancient Magic in Rookwood Castle had been much simpler. It had only one layer.
Will did not rush to begin. Light spun, surged, and collided in his pupils like a silent storm.
He knew building a magical structure this complex would take more than a few hours. It might take days, even weeks.
And during that time, he could not afford to be disturbed.
DePty and Professor Fig would find this place sooner or later. Ranrok's followers were still roaming outside, and wave after wave of intruders could pour into the cave at any moment.
Will's figure blurred beneath the starlight, then vanished completely.
Sure enough, DePty and Professor Fig soon arrived.
They came through the doors, their robes covered in dust and exhaustion written across their faces.
DePty gripped his enchanted Wand. Bits of flesh still clung to him; he had clearly just fought a brutal battle.
