Chapter Summaries

Will learned that Ranrok had found the Rookwood family’s Repository and was using Victor Rookwood to reach it, while Will planned to exploit Ranrok’s search for Ancient Magic. After Ranrok returned to Rookwood Castle with Victor, Will followed them inside, eager to carry out his own plan.

• Will learned from Ranrok’s memories that Bragbor had built five Repositories and that Ranrok had stolen Ancient Magic from the Rookwood family’s Vault.

Will watched a memory showing the four Hogwarts professors using Ancient Magic to end a drought, then saw Isidora Morgana join them as a student able to perceive its traces. He suspected DePty was connected to the professors’ hidden Repositories and decided to search a book for clues, while DePty displayed his strength in Hogsmeade.

• Will watched Percival Rackham, Charles Rookwood, Niamh Fitzgerald, and San Bakar use Ancient Magic to restore a drought-stricken village and its land.

• Will hid in the underground Palace and watched DePty Winston examine the Pensieve, then inferred that Ranrok was another source of information about Ancient Magic.
• Will entered Rookwood Castle under the Disillusionment Charm and found Ranrok studying maps of possible Repository locations.

Will studied the Ancient Magic Core while DePty and Professor Fig fought Ranrok, whom Will had transformed into a wyvern-like monster. After Ranrok fell, DePty chose to seal the cave and leave the Core behind, but Will stayed to study its structure and plan to replicate it.
