Harry boarded the train a few minutes after Ron, mainly because Sirius had given him so many warnings. As Harry's godfather, Sirius worried about him. Even with Dumbledore at the school, Sirius kept reminding Harry to stay safe.
But Harry liked having someone care about him. It made him feel warm.
"Ron, Will, what are you doing here?" Harry asked, puzzled by the people blocking the corridor.
"Oh, I'm waiting for Malfoy to make way for a Prefect." Ron looked delighted. Harry immediately understood what he was doing; after all, Ron and Malfoy had never got along.
Before Malfoy joined the High Tower, they had even come to blows. They still traded barbs constantly afterward, and now that Ron was a Prefect, he naturally wanted to get under Malfoy's skin.
Of course, Malfoy had once been at odds with Harry too. Things were better now. They were acquaintances on the same side, at least.
"Tsk, I wish I could get a badge I didn't deserve too. I thought those were meant for the Champions of the Triwizard Tournament," Malfoy shot back, slipping into a compartment. "I hope this narrow train corridor has room for you."
Ron snorted and walked toward the back of the train, looking rather unhappy. Deep down, he thought Harry should have been the Prefect too.
Harry had no heart to think about any of that right now. He didn't care who was a Prefect. Remembering how Will had written to check on him over the summer, Harry wanted to say something to him. "Will—"
Sylvia interrupted him.
"Will, come on. We have a meeting in the Prefects' compartment." Sylvia pulled Will toward the compartment at the back.
Will felt a little helpless. He really hadn't wanted to become a Prefect.
Watching Will leave, Harry felt deflated.
